Dr. Paul Bechly believes that it is important to give back to the community.
Along with serving on the WRC Board of Directors, he spends his time working with and serving on boards and committees of several other organizations. He is also a Rotarian.
“This goes back to a key personal principle,” said Bechly. “We need to find ways to return our time and our talent to our community.”
On the WRC board, he is a member of the audit committee. In his professional life, Paul is a First Vice President with Morgan Stanley in Greenville.
He believes the City of Wilmington is entering a period of positive renewal.
“It should be obvious to anyone who spends time in the city that we’re seeing an upswing,” he said. “I see that continuing.”
To Paul, the WRC is key in the revitalization of downtown Wilmington, and they’ve only just started.
“I am very excited about the future of the WRC and I’m looking forward to the great things ahead,” said Bechly.
Paul is a graduate of Cornell University, The American College, and Wilmington University where he earned his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees respectively. Prior to his career at Morgan Stanley, he was employed by DuPont in Wilmington, Delaware.
When he’s not volunteering or busy at work, Paul and his wife Beth have traveled to well over 100 countries. Though he said his favorite country to explore is the United States, he discovers something new every time he travels globally.
“Every country has its own unique culture and attractions,” he said. “It’s hard to pick a favorite when there is so much to experience.”
